Booksmith › For MOT garages

Online booking for MOT stations

MOTs get remembered
at 11 o'clock at night.

Nobody plans an MOT; they notice the date, panic, and book with whichever garage answers at that moment. Booksmith is how you answer at that moment: real slots on your page and your Google profile, reg number captured at booking, and a workshop list ready by morning.

The 11pm booker doesn't ring back
at 8:30 when you open.

By morning they've booked the chain garage with online slots. An MOT is a distress purchase, won by whoever is bookable at the moment of panic. Your bays, your prices, your page; open all night without anyone standing in reception.

A workshop day with Booksmith

The ramp never waits for the phone.

  1. 07:40

    The day's list, regs included

Morning agenda: every MOT and service slot, each with the reg and anything the driver flagged at booking. The tester starts the first car, not the phone messages.

  2. 11:20

    A cancellation refills itself

The 2pm cancels from their reminder email. The slot reopens, and the driver on your waitlist gets an automatic message. The bay stays earning.

  3. 17:15

    Reviews from cars that passed

A couple of hours after collection, drivers get your Google review link. Steady reviews keep you above the chain garages on Maps, which is where the 11pm panic starts.

Built for the workshop

What garages actually use.

Reg and vehicle at booking

The booking form asks for registration, make and anything you need. No morning phone round to find out what's coming in.

Slot grid that matches your bays

Offer MOTs on the hour, services in the gaps, with buffers where jobs overrun. The diary mirrors how the workshop actually flows.

A waitlist that fills dead bays

Fully booked Fridays stay full: cancellations trigger an automatic message to the next waiting driver.

Reminders cut the no-show MOT

Day-before and hour-before reminders mean the slot either gets used or gets freed in time to fill. Attendance is tracked.

Bookable from your Google profile

Most MOT searches start on Maps. Your profile's booking link goes straight to your live slots, not to a phone that's busy.

Runs alongside the counter

Phone and walk-in bookings take seconds to add in the admin, and can deliberately override blocked time when you decide to squeeze one in.

Questions from garages

Asked over the counter, answered straight.

Can we capture the reg when they book?

Yes. Registration, make and model, or anything else you want to ask, per service. It shows on the booking, the diary and the morning agenda email.

Can MOTs and services have different slots?

Yes. Each service has its own duration and availability, so MOTs can run on a fixed hourly grid while services and repairs take longer, flexible slots.

What about the drivers who just ring up?

The counter still works: add phone bookings in the admin in seconds. They get the same confirmation and reminders as online bookings, and the diary never double-books a bay.

Do we need a new website for this?

No. The booking page runs on its own address and links from your Google Business Profile; if you have a website, two lines of code embed it there in your colours.
